Myspace Censoring

Yesterday I had written to a friend on Myspace, and I had to use the words "sex toys" in order to describe what the Stockroom sold. When they received the email, Myspace had replaced "sex toys" with ### ####. And then this morning, my photographer buddy Geoff Cordner informed me that Myspace had removed all links to his site from his Myspace profile. I tried it on my profile, and sure enough, all links to my site now direct to the Myspace home page. Umm, I think we're living in China now.

UPDATE: Seems to be widespread. Profiles of Kumi, Miss Conduct, Dave Naz, Masuimi Max, etc, etc, etc... are also affected.

Myspace has gone r tarded.
They keep doing the excessive censoring.
Plus they won't leave well enough alone.
They try to improve things that don't need improvement and then break everything.
Screw you Tom. He's totally not in my top friends anymore. :)

About a year ago we discovered that we couldn't link to xPeeps.com, as MySpace will scrub the links. While I understand that an adult website might not work with the MySpace world, to scrub actual words seems ridiculous!

My suggestion would be to just post pictures of whatever you think might get censored. They haven't stopped off-site linking to images (yet).

And seriously? WTF is up MySpace's craw?

entertainingly, my website link still works, but art site link now goes to myspace. clearly drawings of boobies are much worse than actual ones in my case

That's amazing they allow this all the while my psychotic ex-boyfriend can slander and deface me all he wants via his blogs. Seems they censor what only THEY consider inappropriate and leave the real issues alone. My website is at least still intact... for the time being.

In the last few days I know of at least two people who had their MySpace pages disappear without notice. And this seems to happen in cycles. I worry that anything remotely objectionable is going to get purged, without notice.

Time to jet...

you subversive.

I hate myspace. I have a profile there because some people insist upon using it.

I will converse with one or two transactions there before it must move to real e-mail.

I have some of what I consider obscene images up there and I am still there. but I figure my time is limited before I get deleted.

Sadly, Myspace is owned by one of the largest right-wing conservative media moguls on the planet... that, I think, would explain everything.

While I have a MyCrap, er I mean MySpace page, I don't use it a whole lot and haven't really maximized it's potential so I don't have a whole lot of links. I think maybe that's the only thing that's saved me so far.

I'm seriously thinking about Second Life... (as if I have the time...

the time has come

just like the mass exodus users had from friendster to myspace when friendster was broken, it seems the time has come to leave myspace in the dump, I've noticed people going to Facebook now, but I still think that tribe is the place for mature people and not for kids like friendster and myspace have become.

i thought that was me typing in something wrong

then i noticed that that little message thing said a LOT of people had updatedd their profiles but i didnt notice anything really different.
i guess those were the forced changes myspace did.

i noticed some photos missing. i thought they were there, but then they were not. i wasn't sure. i guess those were edited out.

grr.
i wonder how they make the decision to delete image or delete profile completely...

it seems purely arbitrary. I have a few xxx pics on my profile and I have not been hassled. Others get deleted just with a picture of a girl in latex.

I think it must be if you piss someone off and they flag yoru profile or the pics then they get deleted.

But 12 year olds can post cell phone pics with cleavage. And adults can create a fake profile and cause a teen to commit suicide (true story) and not go to jail.

Ugh! I hate that. That's pretty much why we made socialkink.com...the only issue with that is SK is NSFW at all, so that sets some limitations right off the bat.

It's just sad that myspace is taking these measures though, especially after people have taken the time to create profiles and build up a network of friends :(

Yeah...China...

the days when Masuimi is their official party girl are long past. Rupert Murdoch is the new sheriff in town.
